Dr. Hugh Dunleavy

Dr. Hugh Dunleavy, PhD, is an internationally recognized aviation executive with more than 25 years of senior leadership experience across some of the world’s leading airlines. As an Independent Director and Chair of the Governance Committee of Crown Aviation Holdings Inc., Hugh brings a combination of deep industry expertise and academic rigor to the Company’s governance framework. Holding a PhD in Theoretical Physics from the University of Sheffield, Hugh is also a respected thought leader and has served as a guest lecturer at institutions including MIT and Columbia University.

Hugh has held senior commercial leadership roles at Qatar Airways, Malaysia Airlines, WestJet Airlines, Lufthansa Systems, and Air Canada, where he was responsible for driving revenue growth, optimizing commercial strategies, and expanding international operations.  During his tenure as Executive Vice President at WestJet, Hugh was instrumental in transforming the airline from a domestic carrier into a significant international competitor, expanding its presence across Canada, the United States, Mexico, and the Caribbean.  At Malaysia Airlines, Hugh served as Chief Commercial Officer, leading efforts to revitalize and strengthen the airline’s commercial performance.

At Crown Aviation, Hugh contributes his extensive operational and strategic experience to support the Company’s growth-by-acquisition strategy within the aviation services sector.  As Chair of the Governance Committee, Hugh reinforces best practices in oversight, accountability, and board effectiveness. Based in the Dallas, Texas area, Hugh brings a global perspective to the Board, grounded in decades of leadership across complex and highly regulated aviation markets.
